Press/Photos/Videos: The Italian Rêve Interview

Zach recently sat down with The Italian Rêve for an interview. You can also check out their behind the scenes video below & the gorgeous photos in the gallery.

I’ve spoken with a lot of fellow “Black Sails” fans, throughout the years, and they all have one thing in common: Charles Vane is a hero.

In a show where the lines between bad and good guys are blurred, it’s hard to tell who is the knight in (well) shining warship and who’s just straight up bad, and the Ranger’s captain went from declared enemy to ally to friend, ending up being one of the best, and most loved, characters of the show.
Quite the same goes for the Grounder Prince Roan, one of the major characters in the third and fourth seasons of The CW show “The 100,” although we first see him antagonizing the protagonist, Clarke Griffin. Then, he’ll get closer and closer to many other characters, from his guard Echo to the Sky People.

Now, powerful characters need powerful actors to play them, and Zach McGowan certainly knows how to take a character and turn him into something as close as possible to a relatable, three-dimensional, real human being.

From “Shameless” to “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” and the movie “Dracula Untold,” alongside Luke Evans, Zach has shown the audience how deep characterization, fascinating acting and breath-taking action can go side by side. Be it on a post-nuclear-bombing North America or in the New Providence island, where rivers of Grog meet oceans of Blue, or as the legendary Scorpion King, Zach managed to create characters we loved and cried for. We had the pleasure to meet him in Los Angeles, to discuss with him his past works and his many upcoming projects, plus the things he would like to do in the future.

So, whether you’re still waiting for Jody Silverman to be back on “Shameless,” if your cheered for Charles until the last moment (we sure did) or if you’re waiting for the upcoming release of “The Scorpion King- Book of Souls,” here’s the interview you definitely can’t miss.

Let’s start with an easy one; what made you want to become an actor?
________________

When I was a kid, I started acting pretty early on, doing plays at school and so on. I think it was always a part of the things that I enjoyed. Basically, in school, I really liked gym and the acting class. There were some other things that I enjoyed, but those two were what I really looked forward to. I always wanted to be either an actor, a professional athlete or even a professional soldier – there was a time I wanted to do that. I always wanted to do acting. What made me want to do it? I guess my love for it.

________________

Talking about “Shameless,” in your opinion, Jody’s “happy family” with Karen will ever be back from Arizona?
________________

I think that Zach, the actor, will always love to reprise that role. So, in my opinion, there are a lot of ways of coming back from Arizona with the happy family, why not?! I share everyone’s desire to do that.
________________

So, you are still following the show then, and who’s your favorite character?
________________

Yes, I still watch it!
I watch it, just the same, whether I’m in or off. Carl has always been a really interesting character. I mean, I watched Ethan [Cutkosky] growing up on the show. And also the kids: the younger ones are the most interesting, and I would say, Debbie. I’ve just had the chance to do a movie again with Emma [Kenney], and there is something cool about just watching their arks in the show and also watching their arks in real life.

“So, in my opinion, there are a lot of ways
of coming back from Arizona
with the happy family,
why not?!”

Press: The Witcher on Netflix: Who will play Geralt?

Press: The Witcher on Netflix: Who will play Geralt?

THE WITCHER on Netflix is still a long way off but fans of the books and video games are eager to see who will be cast in the lead role of Geralt of Rivia.

Netflix is currently in the process of adapting book and video game The Witcher to series.

The hugely popular fantasy novels by Andrzej Sapkowski have legions of fans globally who are eagerly anticipating the small screen adaptation.

Writers are already hard at work on the script with showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich regularly tweeting updates.

The release date is still a long way off however, with the show not expected to be out until 2020.

Fans have been speculating endlessly about the casting possibilities for the much loved characters.

The books follow a group of supernatural monster hunters led by Geralt of Rivia.

Known for his long icy blonde hair, the protagonist is is a monster hunter for hire who possesses superhuman abilities and master swordsman skills.

Also known as the ‘White Wolf’, Geralt is a “mutated monster hunter, struggling to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts”.

Who will play Gerald on The Witcher on Netflix?

Fan favourites to be cast as Geralt include Game of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and actor Mads Mikkelson.

Another fan choice is Zach McGowan from Black Sails, The 100 and Shameless.

However, a certain Hollywood A-lister has just thrown their name in the hat to take on the role.

Henry Cavill aka Superman, has said he wants to play Geralt in the upcoming series.

When asked if he was interested in the role by IGN this week, Cavill responded: “Absolutely. Yeah, that would be an amazing role.”

He also said he’s a fan of the books.

Artist Bosslogic has run with the idea of Cavill taking on the role and created an image of the actor as Geralt and posted it to their Instagram.

Other actors who fans have been suggesting include Viking’s star Travis Fimmel and Charlie Hunnam from Sons of Anarchy.

Casting for the series officially began back in June, so hopefully some announcements will be made at some stage this year.

Schmidt Hissrich tweeted at the time: “So. Let’s talk casting. Yes, I said the magic word! Casting is starting soon, and no, I can’t tell you who our top picks are so don’t ask.”

Another character fabs are excited to see cast is Yennefer, with actress Eva Green from Penny Dreadful the fan favourite at the moment.

Star Wars’ Mark Hamill has said he wants to play the part of Vesemir, Geralt’s father figure.

Responding to a tweet about Vesemir he tweeted: “I have no idea what this is or what it’s about but agree it could/should be played by me.”

Regardless of who will eventually be chosen, the casting process is underway so fans will have to wait and see.

The Witcher is set to be released on Netflix in 2020.

Press: ‘The Walking Dead’ Time Jump Length Revealed

Press: ‘The Walking Dead’ Time Jump Length Revealed

There’s going to be a lot of change when it comes to this season of The Walking Dead. Some of those changes will be thrilling, such as the introduction of beloved comic villains The Whisperers, while other changes will be a bit tough to swallow, such as the departures of Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan. One change, however, that’s really exciting is that season 9 will be jumping forward in time, allowing for a fresh start and the opportunity for new stories to flesh out rather than build up.

“We’re playing with time in the season, so we get to jump forward in the story,” Kang said at a Walking Dead panel earlier this year.

Well, thanks to The Walking Dead’s Preview Special this past Sunday on AMC, we now know just how long that time jump will be. While guest-host Yvette Nicole Brown was interviewing new showrunner Angela Kang, Khary Payton (King Ezekiel), and Tom Payne (Jesus), Payne revealed that the show would be jumping forward18 months” in the story.

While there is still a bit of mystery surrounding just where our survivors will all be after a year and a half, we do know that the communities are all thriving together in one common area, that Maggie will have finally had her baby (with the most perfect name), Heath may finally be coming back, and that some popular comic characters will be making their appearance. Fantastic Beast’s star Samantha Morton will be joining the cast as Whisperers leader, AlphaEntourage’s Rhys Coiro and The 100’s Zach McGowan will be playing Savior’s Jed and Justin, with The X-Files’ alum John Finn stepping in to play Earl, and Brett Butler will plat Tammy.

Despite the show entering an impressive ninth season with an 18 month time jump, the cast and creators can’t stop talking about how much the show feels like the early seasons that were adored by fans, especially in the upcoming premiere.

“I think there was a lot of the pilot episode that was reminiscent of this opening episode and also a couple of other episodes, too. We have a few surprises as we both know, but we’re not allowed to talk about them,” Lincoln said.
